　　It is one of the biggest inner-city parks in China. It is a natural forest park in Guiyang with high mountains and a crystal clear lake. In addition to such natural scenes as ancient trees, lakes, ponds and lotus, the park boasts many spots of historical interest. On the cliffs of the hills,there are inscriptions by ancient calligraphers. The largest inscription is the 6. 2-mefer-high and 2.7-metre-wide character hu (tiger) written by a calligrapher in 1860.

　　Located about 32 kilometers (20 miles) west of Guiyang is the Hong-feng (Red Maple) Lake. It is considered to be the pearl of the Guizhou Plateau, and is the most fascinating among the three lakes in this part of Guizhou. The other Iwo are Baihua (Hundred Flowers) Lake and Dongfeng (East Wind) Lake.

　　Hongfeng Lake is the largest artificial lake on the Guizhou Plateau. The lake and the surrounding scenic area occupy a total of 240 square kilometers (93 square miles). There are many red maple trees on the surrounding mountain ranges whose leaves turn red every fall-hence the lake’s name.

　　In the western suburbs of Anshun in Guizhou Province, there exists a magnificent undergroundcave system with lakes, waterfalls and stalactites, covering an area almost 60 squarekilometers (about 23 square miles). Because the main cave looks like the crystal palace wherethe dragon king lives, it is known as Dragon Palace Cave.

The longest underground river in China, some 5 000 meters (over 5 468 yards) inlength flows beneath more than 30 hills connecting over 90 limestone caves within this scenicspot.

　　The Dragon Palace can be divided into five groups of limestone caves connected by theunderground river. The depth of the river can reach to 28 meters (about 15 fathoms) and thewidth can expand to over 30 meters (about 32 yards). Therefore, it is a fascinatingadventure for visitors to float past the magnificent and ever changing views as you journeydeeper into the cave by boat.
